This SP250 is in the classic colour combination of Ivory / Old English White paintwork with a lovely red leather interior and black weather gear. It has enjoyed 4 serial long-term ownerships and comes with a pretty comprehensive history file. The first owner, a Mrs Stock, scrupulously maintained the car during her ownership from new through to mid 1972 and a number of her hand written mileage logs are still with the car together with the original 'Buff' logbook.
In more recent times the car was restored between 2012 and 2016 by its 3rd owner including an engine rebuild, respray and retrim in 2012, an overdrive rebuild in 2014, and front and rear suspension/ brakes rebuilds in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The engine rebuild itself was carried out by Russ Carpenter around 22, 000 miles ago (at around 100, 000 miles) and there is a photographic record on CD.
The car is fully upgraded to a 'B Spec’ and also enjoys the important upgrade to rack and pinion steering - which is correctly mounted on aluminium blocks. The rear dampers are upgraded to Spax adjustable dampers rather than lever arms and there is an uprated front anti roll bar. With these upgrades plus its standard all round disc brakes it drives really well with a glorious burble through the twin stainless exhaust. The car was well optioned from new with full bumpers and a heater. A cigarette lighter has also been fitted so it’s very nearly to spec C!
Overall the car has done around 25, 000 miles since the various restoration works were carried out 10 years ago. It still presents very well with a lovely interior and hood, good chrome work and only a few touched in stone chips to the paintwork. The car has a good mohair hood and tonneau cover, and the wire wheels are in excellent condition. Tyres are a matched set of Vredestein Sprint Classics with over 8mm of tread. The Dart is also fitted with an overdrive and has a recent alloy radiator with Kenlow fan plus electronic ignition.
