Description
1961 Velocette Viper in Mk1 clubman's trim. Restored in 1999. Recommissioned in 2022 after SORN since 2012. Excellent all round condition. Just had decoke and valve regrind. Bottom end excellent honing marks in barrel still evident. Nick payton coil valve spring conversion. Belt dynamo drive, 6 volt with LEDs. Roller clutch thrust bearing with bonded plates. Fitted with Amal monobloc carb with unused Martyn Bratby 10TT carb. Excellent starter hot or cold providing Velo procedure adhered to. Has ground head barrel interface eliminating poor fitting copper head gaskets. Runs 9. 5:1 comp ratio and needs a dose of Tetra Boost to run efficiently. Valve pockets have been cleared out in head to give better flow. Has good twin leader fitted. This bike is quick, light precise handling and stops. But it is a VIPER and does not have the low down grunt of a Venom. Can be ridden by prospective buyer. Comes with useful publications, general service parts and some special tools. Chrome condition good.
