** 1954 Velocette 349cc MAC**
Registration no. NDF 923
Frame no. RS3512
Engine no. MAC22137
In 1934 Veloce Limited announced a high-camshaft overhead-valve '350' built along the lines of the recently introduced 250cc MOV. This was the long-stroke MAC, subsequently bored out to create the 500cc MSS. Post-war, Velo's overhead-valve **** continued much as before, with rigid frames and - initially - Webb girder forks, Dowty Oleomatics being specified later. The MAC gained an alloy cylinder barrel and 'head for 1951 as well as Velocette's own telescopic fork, and was further updated with a swinging-arm frame in 1953. The model was last catalogued in 1960.
Used by Len fairly frequently, he purchased this MAC as his late father had the same year and model and he wanted to have one like his father. This Velocette MAC was bought from Dave Plant and tidied up cosmetically. No other history is known. Last used in 2019, the machine has been dry stored since then and the engine turned over periodically. Following a period of inactivity, recommissioning or possibly more extensive restoration will be required before further use and thus this motorcycle is sold strictly as viewed. The machine is offered with a V5C Registration Certificate and a quantity of invoices for parts and materials purchased.
