I am advertising the car on behalf of my Father who has sadly been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia.
It is a 1947 Morgan 4/ 4 Drophead Coupe.
I believe that fewer than 200 of the DHC cars were produced and they benefit from being more weathertight in the passenger compartment largely down to the raised hood.
The numbers match the accompanying Morgan Motor Company Chassis Record. Supplied new to Prossers garage on 10th September 1947 with a Meadows Gearbox and Standard Special Engine the car was returned to the factory on 8th April 1948 when a replacement Standard engine and Moss gearbox were fitted.
The car was purchased as a non running restoration project 2/ 3 years ago that had been off the road for many years.
It has since been subject to a considerable amount of restoration work and is 99% completed.

The car is in lovely condition after having all works professionally carried out. It has been subject to metal work fabrication and a full bare metal respray, the wood had been inspected. It has been refinished in its original black and looks fantastic. New beading and wing tread plates fitted upon assembly.
The interior was left how it was bar the carpets installed and as such they have a nice patina in keeping with a traditional classic car. There are no rips or tears in the seats or hood assembly.
It has been fitted with a new stainless steel exhaust system.
The engine has been fully serviced, new battery ignition components fitted, carburettor rebuild.

In summary this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a very well sorted example of a rare Morgan 4/ 4 Series 1 DHC.
Two of the Avon tyres have perished to the side walls and will require replacement before use, please note that all of the tyres are old
The bonnet trims have been rechromed, these are being collected on Tuesday and will be fitted this week,
The Morgan was running and driving fine however the clutch has just developed a fault believed release bearing.
I will order the parts and have the repairs carried out prior to sale along with fitting a new speedo cable and timing cover/ sump gaskets.
