Incredibly exclusive (only around 140 of these were made) and like nothing else on the road, the Aero SuperSports is the development of the Morgan Aero 8 and Aeromax.
Taking design cues from both, being open-topped like the Aero 8 and as achingly good-looking as the Aeromax, it is a uniquely hand-built British masterpiece with the might of BMW behind it, the Aero Supersports being powered by their superb 4. 8-litre V8.
With plenty of (368 bhp) power shifting not a great deal of weight, the Aero SuperSports lives up to its name. It is seriously rapid in a way that few cars are today. Morgan conservatively quotes a 0-60 mph time of 4 seconds and on to over 170 mph. There are no electronic “driver aids” to get in the way, it’s just you and your right foot making the decisions. Take the roof off to enjoy it more and get the most from the epic soundtrack.
On the road the suspension’s taut, but not overly compromising, the steering quick and nicely weighted – a decent amount of information coming through the wheel. The brakes are mighty. Yet for all its ferocity it does civility too, as it’s easy to imagine covering big miles behind the wheel.
Inside the small but perfectly formed cabin you can see it is clearly hand-built with an abundance of subtle touches you could never get with the mass produced.
For those looking to stand out in an increasingly homogenous crowd - the Aero SuperSports is charismatic, engaging and a lot of fun.
