The [ very expensive] improvements to this car give the car the appearance of a solid yet classic aged Morgan but with the driving pleasure of a 15-20 year old Morgan. Read on please..........
ALSO....... in 2022 I had all 4 wings professionally stripped and restored to a smooth finish then professionally spray painted to the gleaming specimen you see before you. Only due to very minor blistering to a couple of spots at the lower wings and some touched up stone chips below the headlights which Morgans are renowned for. NOT for rust problems. The remainder of the bodywork / paintwork is in superb order as you can see. The underside is totally solid due to annual inspections and fettling treating [if required]. I had a pit in my side garage until we recently moved house. No underside welding has ever taken place. It is solid. This car therefore offers exceptional value for money when comparing with others. My cars and bikes have to LOOK as [and BE as ] good as they GO!!!!!
Every time I lift the dust cover off it I smile at the "Gentleman's Boardroom" aroma of well treated leather and walnut rising up. Somewhat missing in modern cars unfortunately.
Comes with a HUGE wad of previous receipts etc to back up provenance. Every MOT certificate too. A ridiculous amount of money and time has been spent professionally maintaining / sensibly improving this car for modern motoring over the past 17 years as no one wants an unreliable car!!! 2 keys for all locks, ignition and petrol cap. Handbook, my name V5 for 6 years. Secret immobiliser switch too.
2 summer hols in this car so far in 2023. Recently back from 500+ miles holiday at Bakewell touring Peak District. No issues whatsoever.
MOT June until 2024, [clear pass again!] Only 4 Owners total who've all fastidiously maintained this super car.
Prior to me for 16 years was a vastly experienced mature engineer friend who upgraded the car for comfortable road use in 2006 [at 46k miles] due to the phasing out of unleaded petrol. Rather than skim / harden valves etc on the 46, 000 miles good original 1. 6 cvh engine, he purchased a new 1. 9 cvh engine [Specialised Engines Ltd receipted]. With the 5 speed gearbox it keeps up with holiday traffic and is a far improved leisurely drive over the lesser powered 1. 6 variant which requires multiple gear changes too. Good enough for 80's fast Fords then its good enough for my Morgan!!!
At only 2500 revs in 5th gear, the car cruises at 62 mph and easily accelerates from that if necessary. Best to be safe and be able to get out of trouble ahead.
V5 is correctly DVLA amended for the 1. 9 engine so no insurance issues.
To compliment the engine are: uprated starter/ alternator/ radiator/ hoses/ leads, totally reliable electronic ignition, 4 pot calipers and grooved discs, brake reaction bars, steering damper, stainless brake pipes, large sump under tray, uprated coil and "blue" leads, K&N air filter, the list goes on..................... [all these were fitted within past 17 years]. Bear this in mind when comparing with others!!! Its almost like modern motoring in this older Morgan!! Work out the cost of this lot [ £000s] added to this already decent car!
To my knowledge, this car has no expenditure required [other than standard servicing] for years to come. I've not tinkered with it - it has all been done professionally. I've meticulously regularly checked levels, tyres etc and kept it shiny! It's been driven regularly too - not laid in a garage with hoses etc drying out and failing.
Therefore, for future ease of motoring and reliability, most of the "important parts" have only travelled 20, 000 miles or less over the past 17 years!!! You do not get this with many cheaper [or some vastly dearer] Morgans advertised on this website.
So, don't compare this car with sub £20, 000 inferior, scruffy 1600cc Morgans with original parts and limited life before required expenditure, compare this with much dearer 25 years old cars which demonstrates the value this lovely car offers.
A very genuine car from a very genuine mature owner in a decent house. The sort you will be happy to buy from!!!!
Factory Cuprinol frame so no issues here [no door play etc], stainless bonnet stays, Full leather [great patina], [ base webbing professionally replaced this year for both reclining front seats], rear seat leather super but we keep a blanket on to protect it, Morgan carpets, stainless chassis covers, stainless door handle covers, stainless period spots, under bonnet black metal spares box [with unused holiday spares, see pic under bonnet], stainless door checks, clock, map light, round mirrors, radio / cassette, LOADS MORE TO LIST, see all pics. The aftermarket options list has been severely raided!!!! Ally body, steel wings.
I've owned 6 years from 56701 miles when the previous owner serviced it for sale to me. Anything required since plus servicing is sorted by my local "Old School" garage at 59392, 62214 and May 2023 at 65490. 4 professional services in the last 9000 miles. PLUS new cambelt/ alternator belt/ pulleys/ water pump / anti freeze at 64291 June 2022. All garage receipted of course. We've travelled 230 miles to Bradford on Avon from home for a cottage holiday, fully loaded with full confidence. 780 miles in week last year. Just back from the Peak District touring. Mileage now 66700 as we've had a holiday and days out.
The body and underneath are solid, the majority of the mechanicals have been replaced or even sensibly upgraded within the past 17 years. The engine / gearbox / differential/ water system have no leaks witnessed by the same clean garage carpet underneath the car for the past 6 years.
Agreed current Morgan insurance valuation £23, 000 at May 2023 renewal.
Quick fit sturdy powder coated steel luggage rack [see photo of it loaded up for holiday], 1/ 4 tonnau, full tonnau, perfect hood, it's been a great, reliable car.
So why am I selling? i keep it at my 89 year old mother in law's house side brick garage 1 1/ 2 miles away. Used to be 300 metres walk away until we moved house recently. Needs using more as I have 3 super modern motorbikes [BIG Harley, Triumph Bobber, KTM] and I bought a magnificent Morgan Plus 6 last year [traded in my 3. 7 Roadster]. All of which are ready accessible for immediate use from my home garages. See photo of Plus 6. i'm 65 now - I don't buy rubbish vehicles - quality and reliability is paramount for my maximum enjoyment!!!!
An addition benefit of the 4 seater is the windscreen is noticeably higher than the 2 seater windscreen. Much easier to duck behind when our British weather kicks in mid journey!!! Keeps the wife happier, and dryer, too!
Still using this 4/ 4 though for 100 miles day trips out in Snowdonia and further for holidays in GB. Mileage will increase slightly therefore. Always been reliable. A sound purchase from a proud owner. It's served us well.
Keenly priced to sell at much reduced price £19, 799 or very decent sensible offer. Great value compared with others not as improved as this for similar prices.
Apart from the inconvenience of going to Mother in Law's to drive it, I'd not be selling. We've 1 more UK hol for it this year and there'll be plenty more in the future. I'll not find another quality reliable one at this price!!!
To sum it up "Would I be happy to drive this car from John O' Groats to Lands End as the car is?" YES!!!!!!!
Why is it not sold yet?? Too many folks looking online and enquiring but not venturing into North Wales to buy unfortunately. However, it only takes 1 decent genuine person to buy. No rush to sell, I'm still enjoying her. It'll happen. No finance on my vehicles [or anything!!!]. Travelling really is easy along the Coast A55 to come and visit Llandudno - its beautiful here!!!!
