A really excellent example with over 60, 000 in mechanical bills from Fiennes Engineering about 20 years ago. This included a full engine rebuild & a plethora of other jobs with the goal of putting this car into perfect driving order. More recently this has been the personal car of noted Silver Ghost & Bentley expert James Black of Northern Ireland who we took it from as an exchange against a Phantom. Under his perfectionist tenure some other little jobs have been done & a Tim Payne overdrive fitted. Unusually he installed a tow hook for allowing for the pulling of a vintage Eccles caravan behind it.
As Derbys go it would be difficult to find a better set up & better driving example. Indeed to drive it is to gain an appreciation of how these cars were when new. The car is finihed in dark green over black with excellent paintwork giving the car a very period look. Being an early Park Ward car the body is of aluminium. To the interior is lightly patinated green leather with a pleasantly used feel to it.
Under the bonnet the car is tidy as one might expect given the eye watering bills that come with it. Performance far exceeds that of many 4. 25 litre examples I have driven. A full set of small tools is located in the boot along with a jack & starting handle. The car has just turned over 80, 941 miles with a previous MOT in 2006 showing 54, 000 miles. Thus the car has been averaging a little under 2000 miles per year.
This car overall has a pleasingly original feel to it & needless to say is beyond repoach from a mechanical satndpoint.
