Just arrived with us is this superb very early example of the Jaguar S-Type.

This version is the rare and now sought after 3. 0 Manual.

The manual gearbox transforms the S-Type from being a laid back executive car into a bona fide sporting saloon. With 240 bhp is is capable of 0-60 in under 7 seconds with a top speed of nearly 150 mph yet can return around 33 mpg on long runs. The chassis balance is superb along with excellent ride and handling.

I can't help thinking that had the S-Type been given a squarer design and sold in Europe as a new 'Ford Granada' (which I understand nearly happened) rather than a Jaguar, this particular version would be rather sought after today with 'Fast Ford' values to match..

It has had just 3 owners from new and was first registered in January 2000 to an elderly Gentleman who kept the car for 17 years. His wife then became it's next registered keeper up until recently.

It is supplied with its full book pack and 15 stamps in the service book. The MOT is until May 2025 with no advisories and a new clutch was fitted in 2023 along with an engine oil service and new battery.

The condition is superb throughout and to look at this car it would pass for 5 years old, not nearly quarter of a century!

Specification includes full leather seating, electric seats, digital climate control, cruise control, alloy wheels, trip computer, abs & traction control. The full book pack is present along with 2 keys.

It is a delight to drive and travel in as well as being a superb 'reference' point example of an early S-Type.

Over the last 2/ 3 years I have become increasingly aware that Jaguar's of this era are surprisingly insurable for younger drivers. Out of interest I asked a 19 year old lad I know to to get an insurance quote on this car. He has a years no claims and based on a £4000 valuation his quotation came out at just over £1000 per annum which is much less than a run of the mill Vauxhall Corsa. This does not appear to be a one off occurrence too..

Rear wheel drive, manual gearbox and V6 engine; a wonderful combination that is rapidly going extinct in today's sanitised automotive world.
