* MG MIDGET 1500 - STAGE 2 'FAST ROAD' *

Better pics to follow soon!

Where do I start with this.

I bought my Midget in 1997 as my first car. It was a standard Old English White rubber-bumper car with 'Autumn Leaf' interior. It was my daily driver and my only transport until 2002, whereby it had seen better days.

Rather than get rid, I loved it so much that I commissioned Chic Doig Classic Sportscars in Cardenden to give it a full nut-and-bolt restoration, to include some improvements...

Brief spec:
Heritage shell with bumpers removed, bumper recesses smoothed, painted MG/ Rover Tahiti Blue
Minator Minilite replica wheels powdercoated white
1500 engine rebuilt to 'Stage 2' fast-road spec
Ford Type 9 5-speed gearbox with short-throw shifter
Safety Devices rear cage/ rollover bar
Corbeau classic bucket seats with harnesses
Koni telescopic shocks (height lowered to chrome-bumper car spec)
Frontline RTL (rear transaxle locator)
Full custom stainless steel exhaust
Works hardtop
Every component was renewed or replaced. The restoration cost over £20k (I know, madness, I got carried away!).

I then used the car sparingly for a few years until a neighbour's child asked to sit in the driver's seat while I was leaving the car to idle (warming up) - child proceeded to mash the throttle to the floor and hold it there until I could cut the engine in horror. Too late, the engine was making a nasty noise.

So, the car sat for a while under a weatherproof cover until I could afford an engine rebuild. It was then professionally rebuilt, bored out and set-up nicely (builder & spec escape me at the moment but will find the receipts!).

As it sits now, sitting in my dad's garage, the rebuilt engine is barely run-in. The paintwork has suffered from micro-blistering and there's a scrape on the passenger side where my dad reversed his MGB Roadster in to it! Other priorities have meant that it hasn't been started in a long time, so will need recommissioning.
It will need at least the following:
Fuel tank drained, fresh fuel, filler cap
Choke return spring
New battery.

Stripes are vinyl and in the process of being removed.

It's tough for me to sell this car and I would like any purchaser to give me first refusal should they choose to sell it on in the future.

Looking for £8, 000, open to offers & part exchanges with cash my way.

Located in Cults, Aberdeen.

Thanks for reading all that!

Unique MG Midget with the potential to be the ultimate fast-road Midget 1500 with minimal work. Also, huge potential to become a sprint/ hillclimb car or for trackdays or historic racing!
