Beschreibung
The third generation of the Morris Minor was produced from 1956 until 1962 and they were the first cars to be badged “Minor 1000”. They are something of a sweet spot in Minor production; more useable in modern traffic than the early cars, better built than the later ones and the 948cc engine is the smoothest of the “A” series units.
This car is a 1962 Morris Minor four door saloon in Empire Green, despatched to New Zealand in March of that year and returned to the UK in 2015. On its return, it was restored to the condition you see here (although it was a superb and un-molested car in the first place). Ordinary superlatives are redundant in relation to its condition, it is perhaps better than new and may well be the best four-door saloon is in existence. It has collected a wealth of trophies and has the potential for more wins in all but those events where 100% originality is a prerequisite. There are a few minor concessions for modern use but all are improvements including poly-bushes, some stainless fittings and a spin-on oil filter.
This Minor also is also set apart from most restored cars in terms of originality - all the body panels are original so the panel fit is as factory - and although various minor components have been replaced the best rather than the cheapest parts were used. The condition is best illustrated by the underside and engine bay although the quality is constant in all other areas. It almost goes without saying that this Minor drives and runs perfectly!
Cars of this calibre rarely come to market; it would be difficult to re-create without a very substantial budget and a great deal of specialist knowledge.
