EXTERIOR
This wonderful face lift example is finished in beautiful Bluewater metallic – a subtle yet fresh colour that embodies the understated silhouette that BMW fans have become to love.
The bodywork presents consistently well after a full paint correction detail with our in house team. The rear arches and sills are corrosion free, a common downfall of the M5s from this and previous era. All of the plastic trim on the car are in good condition and has retained its factory colour and finish. The complete car presents as a much lower mileage example than the clock suggests.
INTERIOR
This E39 comes with the heritage Black Nappa Leather interior which perfectly offsets the Bluewater paintwork. The front seats have no wear to the bolsters or cracks in the leather.
As a face lift car it comes optioned with the widescreen Navigation system, a £5, 000 option from new which has been further upgraded with the most up to date software and aftermarket Bluetooth music streaming.
The boot is lined in immaculate grey carpet with the original BMW onboard toolkit stored in the lid.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Pop the bonnet on the M5 and you are presented with the mighty M Power V8 engine. With a beautifully clean engine bay alongside comprehensive paperwork it is clear that this S62 has been maintained to a high standard. The Getrag Type D six-speed manual transmission is tight, precise and perfectly matched to an engine that offers a well conceived torque to power ratio.
A Tubi exhaust system replaces the standard setup, Well-balanced exhaust dB level throughout RPM range, releasing a unique sound.
The balance of chassis, powertrain and engine characteristics work to create an incredible combination of performance and poise all wrapped into an analogue driving experience too often lost on more modern machine – a key reason behind the continued success and popularity of the E39.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 18 inch Style 65 wheels look fantastic against the Bluewater bodywork finished in factory dark chrome; free of any major marks or scuffs. Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s are wrapped around each corner with plenty of tread.
The brakes, recently renewed, perform as they should with no adverse pitch, pull or drone.
HISTORY FILE
This facelift M5 was first registered on the 1st March 2002 and having 2 previous owners up until December 2006 where the current owner then purchased the much loved machine.
A total of 12 stamps are recorded in its original service book, with its last service changing the spark plugs, brake fluid and diff oil; regular service intervals are as follows;
