Beschreibung
History:
The Fiat 500, born in July 1957, was produced over 3. 7 million times in its career. The successful model, which followed the equally popular Topolino (built from 1936 to 1955), stopped production in five series (Nuova, D, F, L, R) in 1975. This lovingly restored Nuova Fiat had an amusing eastern Swiss history before coming to the Zurich area. It once belonged to the teacher of Goodtimer founder Widler's brother. Ownership then changed to a road transport expert in eastern Switzerland, where the Nuova was completely rebuilt as a family project. A corresponding photo and text documentation is available. After a 4-year excursion to Lake Zurich, this Fiat 500 was probably overcome by homesickness, so that it is now back in its original home of St. Gallen.
Bodywork and paintwork:
The bodywork was rebuilt very generously and a very good quality of paintwork was achieved. The paintwork still looks as freshly done. Only very few stress holes can be seen on the door hinges.
Interior:
The entire interior is new and stitched to a high standard in an absolutely fantastic choice of colours Even the fittings have been chrome-plated to a high standard and everything looks like new.
Engine and mechanics:
The 650cc engine was certified and overhauled by the Roadworthiness Authority in 1993. A full inspection of all the mechanics will be carried out by Goodtimer at the time of purchase, as well as a fresh veteran's inspection.
Chassis:
The entire chassis and brakes are part of the restoration and are in perfect and tested condition. The brake system and wheels were renewed in 2019.
Driving experience:
Every Cinquecento is an experience at its own, whether with 14 or with 18 hp. The early Nuova models have the greater fresh air advantage, especially for the rear passengers, as the roof can be rolled up to below the rear window. The 150 more cubic capacity of this model makes itself felt with a smoother engine run, but it needs almost one litre more fuel per 100 kilometres.
Recommendation:
Genuine Nuova from the first production series are very rare to find and therefore sought after. This example has a documented restoration, where more than 33'000 Swiss Francs were invested in material and external services alone. The loving work of the two Fiat specialists from the vehicle inspection department is not included in this calculation. From our point of view, this is a very collectible example and a welcome guest at any classic car event. And of course we are also curious to see where the journey will take us in Switzerland this time.
