Description
BSA Model D TT
500cc
First Registered 4th June 1913
This single gear, no clutch, belt drive, four stroke machine started life in 1913 at the Isle of Man TT race. BSA works rider Kenneth Holden was down to ride a 2 speed machine but as this gave him trouble during late practise he opted to ride this machine. Unfortunately, they retired due to an early crash at Kirk Braddan - only one of the seven BSA machines entered survived to finish in 17th position. Since the early 1970's this machine has been somewhat luckier, it has gained over 250 awards for performance in VMCC events, it has taken part in eight international Anglo-Dutch events being on the winning side for seven occasions and overall best performance twice. The machine has been extensively ridden, taking part in events in England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France, Belgium and Holland. In 1983 the machine gained a silver medal on a trip from Lands End to John O'Groats (the event was a re-run of a 1910 International six days trial - a journey of over 1, 000 miles)This machine has won the VMCC South Western Veteran Championship twenty times and has successfully completed numerous Pioneer runs to Brighton and has also climbed Porlock Hill !
