Description

Hi there and welcome to the sale of my Audi 100 Avant.

It's a 1992 example, with a V6 petrol engine (25-30mpg) and five-speed manual gearbox. Fundamentally in good condition, there are some paint issues on the back bumper and some rust bubbles on the tailgate. There are a few miles on the clock but it's more than healthy enough to live another life – the chap I bought it off did the NC500 in it, and I'd not hesitate to do the same.

It drives nicely with nice power delivery and a smooth gearbox and brakes, although the front suspension's a little stiff (like it's been fitted with aftermarket dampers that aren't particularly well matched to it). The pad warning light is showing at the moment, but they look good on a visual inspection, and it pulls up firm and straight. The interior is in nice condition, although the headlining is sagging and is unobtrusively pinned up in places.

The electric windows all work, as does the electric sunroof, although the central locking is a little bit temperamental, and doesn't always function as it should. It's also showing an intermittant bulb warning, although nothing's out of order, and it tends to only come on in corners - so I'll put that down to a bad contact somewhere.

The paint's okay, but it's what I'd describe as a 10-foot car (it looks best from 10 feet!) with a few nicks and grazes here and there, but nothing that makes it look like a shed on wheels. The stereo's currently U/ S, but I can probably supply something suitably retro to replace it. Additional bits and bobs - it comes with detatchable roofrails, and there's a towbar in place. I haven't tested that side of it, so can't comment on the towbar electrics. The tyres and wheels are okay, and nothing a nice set of premium Michelins wouldn't put right.

I bought the car, as I needed an interesting estate at the time, but it's now no longer needed as I have a four-wheel drive for the oncoming winter.

Happy to deliver within reason (the car is currently located in Peterborough), especially if you're up north, and if it goes for the full price I'll even fill the tank! Payment via Bank Transfer welcome, and I'm happy to do a video for you if there's anything you'd particularly like to see. As always it's always best to come and look before making an offer, but quite happy to deal remotely, if you're unable to. Just talk to me – I'm happy to discuss options, and positively encourage haggling.

Finally, I won't release the car without finance in place up front – but do ask upfront, I won't bite! This is a rare and unusual estate car with a fine-sounding engine and great build quality. You'll be able to use it anywhere and not worry too much about your pristine classic getting the odd scratch on it. In short, the ideal modern classic.
