Very reluctant sale of my beautiful Rover. This is one of the best condition 75s Ive seen, the last owner having it for 20 years and doting on its every need.
The Wedgewood Blue paint is superb and shows the cars elegant lines perfectly, it is in excellent condition across the entire car - there are no dings around the body and the last owner had both bumpers painted a couple of years ago. There is a small mark in the rear bumper, a couple of stone chips at the front and a small patch on the back roof that the paint has worn oddly.
The distinctive heavy chrome that gives the car a baby Bentley feel is generally also excellent, a small mark on one front corner and a little pitting on a couple of door handles.
The alloy wheels are not curbed at all but one rear has a mark on a spoke, and all are fitted with matching Dunlop Sport tyres with decent tread.
Inside the car is stunning. I have replaced the fake wood dash panels with pre-project Drive real dark wood panels and fitted a matching dark wood and leather steering wheel.
It has 4 electric windows, electric mirrors, original radio cassette (CD changer in the boot but not sure it works) and working air conditioning that blows cold with dual zones.
Headlining is good with no drooping and Ive fixed the dropping rear interior light, and only very slight loose fabric on the door cards, the front passenger door fabric is not as good as the others.
With so few miles on the click the its no surprise the seats show very little sign of wear or use and remain possibly the most comfortable car seats known to man. There is though a tiny hole in the drivers seat base.
The carpets are very good and the chrome door tread plates are very nice too
The 1. 8 Turbo is the engine to go for in these cars. They are far brisker than the base 1. 8, almost as quick as the V6 but lighter in the nose for nicer handling and much better MPG.
The one runs superbly and feels very fresh to drive.
Under the car looks to be very solid indeed with nothing more than surface rust on the suspension arms. I have just coated the underside and rear suspension with Alphalan anti corrosion treatment, also filling the rear arms, chassis cavities and doors with this.
Overall this is a truly stunning example which gets nothing but praise wherever it goes. Its one of the most comfortable cars Ive ever driven and the cabin has a very special feel to be in. This 75 was owned by Rover themselves for the first 6 months of its life in 2003, so they are the first owner in the car's service book.
It was then sold approved used from the Rover dealer in Gillingham, Kent to a gentleman who kept it until the start of this year, when he had it MOT'd (it passed with no advisories), drove it home and decided that at 86 years old it was time to hang up the car keys, so sold it to his MOT tester, who knew it was a solid car!
I saw it at the garage while having one of my other Rovers tested and the mechanic, with very little effort, persuaded me I needed it, so I have been using it as a weekend fun car since spring.
The last owner kept the car fastidiously maintained, services kept up to date and not scrimping on anything - the 4 matching Dunlop tyres tell their own story there.
The head gasket seems to have been an issue in 2017 as new head bolts were fitted, but was replaced along with an entire new head in 2018 and hasn't been an issue since - my experience of these engines is once the head gasket is replaced with a modern version they dont have any more issues.
Since Ive had the car I have serviced it and changed the coil packs which were starting to fail.
The history file with this car is huge, it has the MG Rover leather approved used folder as well as the owners book pack and stamped service book with extra sheets of paper tucked in for the extra stamps!
