A ready to jump in and use today, charming vintage motor, in good working order following a lot of service work in April this year and despite being exempt it even has a current MOT, lovely old car looking for a new owner to take it on motoring adventures.
Really well presented two seat open sports tourer finished in gleaming black with a smart red interior, they made 161000 Series 1?s of which only 24000 we?re tourers and most of those we?re 4 seaters, so this 2 seater sports tourer is a fairly rare model. Drive it fully enclosed with hood up and sides on, clip off the sides for semi open motoring and drop the hood for the full open top experience, can be used in any weather, the side screens slip into a purpose made slot in the rear for easy storage and access.
Smart interior with red undamaged seats and door cards very good hood, hood frame and matching side screens, the bench seat back is adjustable for rake, the squabs are firmly padded with no sag, plenty of room behind the seat to store your picnic / weekend bag or furry travel companion. Dash clocks and gauges working, the trafficators pop out and all the running lights are all illuminating.
1935 Series 1 model, running the correct 918cc 4 cylinder petrol engine, starts, runs, drives, stops and turns exactly as it should, the hydraulic brakes (cable brakes on Austin?s of this year) are spot on with an excellent parking brake. Apparently treated to £1500 of service work in April this year before being presented for its MOT, but we only have a letter from the former keeper to verify this, well the letter and the fact the brakes he refers to in the same letter are in brilliant order. The car is tax and MOT exempt, it can be presented for a test if desired, the road tax is free, classic insurance with a specialist company on limited mileage would be around £150 a year for most drivers.
Recently fitted with a new fuel pump and 6v battery, it keeps up with modern traffic on the local roads, pulls well uphill with 2 adults onboard, has a good clutch with no slip or judder and the oil and water are in the right places and the right colours. A compression check shows all four cylinders to be equally reading, see pics, test done on a cold engine. Very solid underneath, no undue play in the wheel bearings or steering controls, no buckled wheels, no poor tyres, again please see the video for a full underside tour.
We have the current modern logbook and MOT and also a PDF file that we can email to the buyer containing a complete owner?s manual, we understand the car has very low ownership, having been passed to the wife of a long term owner who retained it for some time, sadly no history or records came with it. Current mileage is 46k which is suggested in the last owners letter as being right, but we can't confirm these are correct.

The car will be 89 years young next year if you get up close the paintwork has a little patina in small areas, exactly as it should be for its year. As with all classic and vintage cars we sell, we advise the buyer to have the car checked over to their own satisfaction before undertaking any major journeys, due to the time of year we will be flushing the coolant and refilling it with a fresh mix of antifreeze coolant in the next few days.

Local delivery within 20 miles of Carlisle is normally for free, further afield we can deliver to most of the UK for £1 per road mile from Carlisle (it will not be delivered by crow), highlands, islands and outlying areas please check with us first.
