CONDITION
Smoke Silver Metallic was a available for the final three years of SL production, a smart and modern shade that's beautifully complimented by Black, Beige, Brown, Deep Red or Palomino interior, However this is one of very few right hand drive cars that combines Smoke Silver with Palomino, making it a very alluring proposition.
The 4. 2 litre V8 engine, like the paint shade was new for 1986, replacing the 3. 8 litre 380SL in the middle of the R107 lineup. Smooth, refined and responsive, the 420SL always lived in the shadow of the 500SL which may explain why only 2, 200 of these cars were built. This rarest SL engine makes for a wonderful grand tourer, being capable and rewarding to drive and experience without lacking any of the bunch of the larger displacement 500SL. The 420SL is a different proposition, and really must be driven to be appreciated properly.
This beautiful car was first registered in Dorset, before finding its way to London before appearing at SLSHOP for the first time in 2011, showing 127, 000 miles at the time. The fully stamped service book details a life of careful maintenance, with a valuation from SLSHOP dated some years ago indicating that this car is at the higher end of the quality scale.
Between 2019 and 2022 four different folders exist for various works completed by SLSHOP to improve the car and bring it up to to the standard it is today, with all works undertaken here in Stratford Upon Avon.
With 10, 000 miles covered and a range of works completed in recent years, this SL is looking for the next phase in it's adventure.
