Exciting winter vintage Lambo project!
History of this car
One of only 520 produced, our very late production LHD P250 Urraco was imported from South Africa to the UK in 1997 according to the HMRC paperwork on file. The earlier history isn?t known and whilst we have its SA logbook for UK registration purposes we don?t know if this example was originally supplied new to SA or not.
It has never been registered in the UK and was partly dismantled for chassis repairs which never happened. There have been 2 UK owners, the last from 2001.
We have loosely assembled some of the car to demonstrate completeness.
Bodywork
The body presents well with straight looking sides and mainly very good panel fitment. The engine lid has had something drop on it so requires repair.
The glass is very good as is the exterior trim.
Currently painted red, there is some evidence the car was originally white.
The doors, sills and wings appear free of serious rust but the chassis requires rust repair mainly to the front boot area, floors and rear valance.
Mechanicals
Our car is equipped with the 2. 5 litre motor which we were told was rebuilt by the previous owner with parts bills to back this up.
The cooling system, air conditioning, front brakes and associated assemblies have been removed for the chassis repairs to be performed. It all looks to be there, but please check the pictures for yourself.
There are some new parts included notably a high cost stainless exhaust system.
Otherwise nothing is known condition wise so you must assume a general rebuild is required.
Interior
A big plus, this, as these interiors can be very pricey to restore correctly and most restored examples are non original. The carpets and some of the trim have been removed for the required welding works but it all looks in good to excellent condition ? including the groovy deep dish steering wheel. With the possible exception of the carpets, this interior will definitely go again.
Summary
These cars rarely come up in project form and this one is believed complete. This would make a super desirable Lambo from the golden period and a very valuable car when restored.
Supplied with a history file of bills, the South African logbook and UK Customs paid form. If the car stays in the UK, it should be straightforward to register with the DVLA once restored and running.
