We are delighted to present for sale this 1975 Series 3 Land Rover®, which has a huge array of optional extras fitted – finished in Keswick Green with colour coded wheels and Sand Canvas. It has been previously rebuilt on a Galvanised Chassis, which has been undersealed and painted black to protect the zinc coating against wear from salty winter roads.
Externally – we really feel the photos speak for themselves. We cannot recall seeing a more handsome Series 3 than this in recent times – the new bumper, vintage number plates, matching bonnet mounted spare, galvanised details such as the grab handles, drop plate, recent hood sticks & recent canvas top all create a look that really “pops” – right down to the fresh rivets along the sides of the truck. This is all topped off with a new set of 750 chevron tyres for the strong look that fills the arches, with front and rear mud flaps preventing dirt, salt and stones from hitting the body work. A Tow Bar with electrics has been fitted to allow towing if so desired. We could go on about the looks and features all day, as the list is almost endless.
On the inside, a full deluxe interior is fitted – with a full bespoke black carpet set fitted, along with door cards and heavy duty deluxe matting over the top, to protect the carpeting. Not only does this look good, but it also has a practical application of increasing sound deadening, which is welcome when driving. High back outer front seats are fitted, with a seat belt bar providing inertia reel belts too. The centre houses a cubby box complete with cupholders, stereo and USB charging – this has full bluetooth capability for taking calls, playing music and sat nav directions through Google Maps…. not the spartan interior one normally associates with a Series of any marque. The rear is unfitted with the exception of a load mat to protect the floor- but could house bench seats on request for £595, bringing seating to six people including the driver.
Out on the road is where this Series 3 shines, though – the previous rebuild means a pleasing but enhanced period drive, aided by larger tyres for better fuel economy and a better cruising experience. The petrol engine pulls well to speed and it stops well, too. The added benefit of an overdrive means higher road speeds are easier to achieve and maintain, whilst the soft interior trim and lower revs mean a much more civilised experience when up to speed. The looks mean a great deal of positive attention whether you are on country lanes, A roads or driving through town – on our test route, we think this one may have set a record for the amount of smiles and waves it got! The galvanised chassis means that this Series 3 should stand the test of time too, especially when coupled with our full under body protection package which includes the vulnerable other components, too.
In summary, if you are looking for a high-specification Series 3 Land Rover® which benefits from all the usual positives – MOT & Tax Exemption and classic insurance – whilst also being previously rebuilt with a host of expensive extra items which make a much more pleasant ownership experience, then this could be well worth considering.
