EXTERIOR
The rarely seen Individual Imola Red, made famous by the E39 variant, is certainly an M Power statement colour that fits the Bangle BMW design era beautifully. This particular example shows a deep and consistent shine throughout; clearly an example that has enjoyed attentive ownership over the years. The detailing team here have worked to produce a stunning example that looks as good as the pictures suggest with a lustrous swirl free finish. Panel fit and finish is superb with only a handful of stone chips to the front bumper and a small scuff on the rear wing belying the cars age and mileage.
The LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) LED front and ‘Angel wing’ rear tail lights ensure the car still looks as fresh today as when it was launched almost 20 years ago; indeed the general design has aged incredibly well over the years.
Rubbers, seals and shadow line all appear supple and soft to touch with excellent integrity, colour and shape all around.
INTERIOR
The E60 really brought the game forward in terms of tech at ones disposal; one of the very first road vehicles to feature a Head Up display with gear, revs and current vehicle speed appearing on the windscreen above the instrument binnacle.
What is quite unusual to note here is the I-Drive has been upgraded as per 2009 LCI specifications – running the fresher looking and more intuitive CIC I-Drive system that can only have been available on the final production cars. Other modern considerations compliment the broad operating bracket on offer with upgraded BMW DAB HiFi, Nav and Bluetooth all in good working order. Both heated seats and sunroof have the bases covered for all seasons.
The individual Merino leather retains excellent original integrity, with no unsightly marks, stains or scuffs whilst the carpets are clean and tidy throughout. The rear seats look as though they have had very little use, if any, whilst the boot is tidy and clean.
ENGINE &= TRANSMISSION
Under the bonnet of this M5 lurks the monstrous 500bhp V10 engine, which propels the car from 0-60mph in a staggering 4. 8 seconds. There is nothing quite like the sound of this V10, the likes of which we will not see again – just breathtaking. Whilst the engine demands revs to extract all of the performance potential, the car is more than happy at cruise with ‘only’ provide 400hp in standard setup – a Sport button will unleash a further 100hp should one want to go that step further. The LCI model is more than just a cosmetic makeover – this car benefits from the uprated gearbox with improved pumps and hardware.
Both Vanos Solenoid valves and the final drive have been replaced under extended warranty to ensure engine and drivetrain are in excellent health.
WHEELS, TYRES &= BRAKES
The unmarked ‘Muscle car MV2’ Style 166 alloys are wrapped in a matching set of Continental Sport Contact – recently replaced and all with excellent tread depth all round.
The drilled standard discs present well and show plenty of material on both pad and disc, front to back.
HISTORY FILE
First registered by Wollaston BMW in December of 2009, this very special Individual spec car was a showroom display vehicle before the dealer PDI and completed running-in service during the Summer of 2011.
This unique very late production example would remain under warranty and adhere strictly to the manufacturer service routine all the way up to 2019 and 34k miles. A multitude of service invoices support the service routine in the history file alongside a digital print out of every visit to the main dealer since new.
The last service was carried out in June of 2023 at 34, 999 miles where the oil and filter was changed as well as a new wheel speed sensor.
All in all this E60 ticks all the boxes with an incredibly rare specification, low mileage and solid service history – both as an approved used car with BMW and specialist care.
