1980 VW Scirocco Storm Mk1 - Restoration project for sale.
This vehicle is being listing for sale on the behalf of our client.
We have before you the special edition 'Storm' version of the Mk1 Scirocco, presented in Diamond Silver Green Metallic. Styled by Giugiaro and based on the VW Golf. The 'Storm' identifiable by the Zender front spoiler. With only circa 600 'Storm' models produced, all intended for the UK market only. this is an exciting and increasingly rare opportunity to become the next proud owner...
First registered on the 22nd May 1980, this vehicle was supplied in the factory colour of Diamond Silver Green Metallic, unique to the storm variant. Other distinctive features on the Storm include, Zendor body-coloured front spoiler, Integrated air-dam and 12 spoke Alloy wheels, the Storm also boasted a larger engine to the equivalent Golf of the period upgrading from the 1. 5 to the 1. 6 fuel injected SOHC. The interior was enhanced too with full black leather seats with complementing black trim throughout.
This vehicle has been used and is now showing signs of its age with corrosion to the bodywork, warranting the requirement for restoration. Our client has agreed now is the time to let this vehicle be pass on to the next owner whilst other outstanding projects are addressed.
The extent of the restoration is unknown at this time, however what can be seen visually can be shown in the supplied imagery.
Exterior
This vehicle retains all parts associated with the exterior body work, some items of trim do however require repair / replacement due to removal / age related wear and tear. All alloy wheels are in good order and present including a matching spare. The front of the vehicle has been partially assembled for photographs and will be removed prior to transportation. The passenger door has been replaced with a good condition panel which has been gapped and and functions as intended. Corrosion is visible and some repairs have been carried out to the body. These will require inspection, repairs and paintwork to shine once again.
Interior
The Black leather seats are in good condition overall and are still very comfortable but have a few areas of wear and tear. The vehicle is very in original with all parts present including the three spoke sports Wolfsburg labelled steering. With a good valet and minor repair the interior will look as intended once more.
Engine
Whilst the engine remains untouched, these are very robust. We are unable to comment on the condition or function of the engine and therefore has been listed as a non-runner. We would gladly inspect further upon the new owners request however given the restoration works it would be recommended to have the engine and cooling system overhauled to match the rest of the vehicle. This storm was last road registered in 2018, and the use or maintenance from then until now is unknown.
