The FIAT 500, (or in Italian: Cinquecento), is a city car which was produced by the Italian manufacturer FIAT between 1957 and 1975. Designed by Dante Giacosa, the new model 500 was launched as the Nuova 500 in July 1957, as a cheap and practical town car. In 1959, Dante Giacosa received a Compasso d'Oro industrial design prize for the Fiat 500.
Measuring only 2. 97 metres (9 feet 9 inches) long, and originally powered by an appropriately sized 479 cc two vertical in-line cylinder air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term "city car" and is considered one of the first real town cars. An enormously popular and practical car throughout Europe it captured the hearts and minds of the public.
Imported into the UK in 2013, this fantastic LHD 500R was well sorted by the Abarth specialists Middle Barton Garage when it first came to the country and has enjoyed a cosseted experience since. It is the perfect city-classic, small and nimble with oodles of character and charm.
