We are delighted to present for sale this very recently rebuilt Land Rover® Series 3 Genuine Station Wagon, complete with a galvanised chassis and rebuilt engine. The gent who purchased this vehicle and undertook the restoration project intended it to be his forever car - however due to ill health and a loss of storage, opted to sell it to us to move it into a new owner who can appreciate it and pass it down through the family. The results of this work speak for themselves - this is the highest specification station wagon we've seen for some time... read on below.

Firstly - the fully documented rebuild process..... completed over the course of two years, with a parts bill of over £9000 - with paperwork detailing all the works done and all receipts in a binder for the new owner to see everything which has been bought and fitted to the car. Just incredible to see - below is a list of just some of the items changed.... it is by no means exhaustive, but we want to demonstrate the level of the work completed:

New battery
New brake shoes and cylinders front and rear including all items such as springs and nuts
New front and rear shock absorbers
New galvanised chassis
New footwells
New smiths heater blower motor
New ignition switch with two sets of keys
New exhaust
New wheel bearings
New springs
New radiator with all hoses and clips
Engine sent off to be fully rebuilt with an uprated rear main bearing seal by AGRA engineering in Scotland (the known area which causes issues as the engine ages, now dealt with for the future)
New Clutch (including master and slave cylinders
Gearbox rebuilt and seals and bearings replaced
New steering relay and assembly
New doors including rear door with new locks and handles
New ancillaries, including fuel pump etc.
New electrics including voltage regulators and stabilisers

As you can see - the previous owner really went to town - and this was just scratching the surface of the 6 page parts document, alongside the 10 pages of dates of work carried out - plus the then hundreds of pages of actual receipts too!

Externally, the Masai Red bodywork is presented in lovely condition, and the addition of the station wagon tropical roof and side windows with alpine lights really does set this vehicle off... we think it looks great and we could talk all day about the external extras - rear mud flaps, bonnet mounted spare, rear step, side steps, defender mirrors, front and rear tow balls (rear with electrics) etc etc. It has just about every extra you could wish for, which could constitute reasonably expensive upgrades.

The interior follows the same vein and is a plush, clean and comfortable environment - with three front deluxe seats, door cards and handles, matting to the footwells, heater with demist, rear bench seats, a re-trimmed roof with the safari roof vents..... it is just a well organised and well put together place to be - light and airy for all the family to enjoy. We have also included a shot of the under bonnet area, to demonstrate the level of detail that has gone into this build process.

Out on the road, the rebuilt diesel engine starts keenly with a little glow and pulls strongly in every gear. It drives just as it should from when it left the factory.

In summary, if you are looking for a recently rebuilt Series 3 Genuine Station Wagon Land Rover® on a Galvanised Chassis, but do not want to pay the £38k plus VAT that this vehicle would cost to build professionally today, then this could be for you. With the added bonus of the ability to run without cost of road tax or the hassle of an MOT, alongside classic insurance, this vehicle should prove to be a long standing family member for a reasonably low outlay.
