1960 Morris Mini De-Luxe

Thank you for looking at our lovely 1960 Morris Mini-Minor De-Luxe saloon. First registered in December 1960 it has been with us for nearly four years and we have enjoyed motoring in it, but it is time for a new owner to enjoy.

Originally built as car M-A2S4/ 48286 in Old English White, this home market De-Luxe was sold in Cambridge where it spent 7 years before being purchased by a farmer in 1967. It remained on that farm for 51 years, where it was used daily. In 2008 the mini was purchased by a well renowned Mini expert who set about on a period accurate and sympathetic restoration. We purchased the mini in 2020 making us only the fourth owners in this Mini's long life.

The restoration, expertly carried out between 2018 and 2020 included a significant amount of body work, including new gutters, front wing, boot and work underneath. At all times, detailed attention was paid to the specifics of the 1960 model with components and fixings being used to match this early specification. The Mini has a significant number of original features, which serve to tell the history of the car. The bumpers are original and unrestored, showing beautiful age and patina. The front and rear seats and seat trim is all original. The side glass, including sliding drivers and passengers windows are also original. The speedometer and a number of other internal ancillaries are also original, from this car when supplied as new. There is a small paint scuff on the drivers door pillar where the door had previously rubbed. This should be easy to remedy and a photo is included.

This Mini benefits from some tasteful updates which make it comfortable and safe to use on modern roads but which all could be easily reverted with minimal complexity. There is a small instrument binnacle by the drivers right knee which shows critical engine status such as battery charge, oil pressure and temperature. The mini also benefits from the fitment of a later 1300 saloon engine, with a modified 2. 2 differential. All other engine running gear is standard (exhaust and carbs etc) but this small Mini can keep up easily in modern traffic and is incredibly dynamic to drive. We do have the original 850 engine which will also be provided with the vehicle along with a number of spares and a set of chrome hub caps (which out of fear, I never actually fit to the car). Inside there are a new set of red carpets to match the original seats and the original fixed seat belts.

The Mini will be provided with 1989 supplied heritage certificate, detailed document of the 1960 Mini specifics for this vehicle by the restorer, two sets of keys, the original disassembled engine and spares, hub caps, pre restoration photos, and photographs during the restoration process.

It is sad that the day has come when the Mini must leave us but we have thoroughly enjoyed owning this remarkable little car and we are sure you will have the same level of joy.
