1934 Lagonda Rapier 4 seat Tourer – coachwork by Ranalah

Introduced in 1934, the Rapier was Lagonda’s new smaller model aimed at the highly popular 1100cc sector of the market.

Featuring an all-new 1104cc engine with twin overhead camshafts, developing an impressive 50 bhp, the Rapier appealed to the enthusiastic drivers of the period who were seeking a small, but distinguished sporting car with an air of exclusivity.

A variety of coachwork styles were available and amongst the most attractive designs was the four-seat tourer by Ranalah.

This example of the 1934 Ranalah bodied tourer was acquired by the vendor in 2014 in partially dismantled condition and was meticulously restored, returning to the road the following year.

Information from the Lagonda Rapier Register states that BOH 502 was originally fitted with fixed head coupe coachwork by Abbott of Farnham and the present Ranalah body came from another car - CYY 786.

A most appealing small sporting motor car of quality, it is sure to prove highly enjoyable to its next custodian.
