This MGB LE model was manufactured in 1979 for export to the USA. It was re-imported to the UK and re-registered HWR 393T in 1995.
Number of former owners 5. It has been converted to RHD. MoT certificates from 1994 to 2024. Historic vehicle but MoT provided for 2023/ 24 even though exempt.
Between 1997 and 2018 there is a wealth of paperwork covering all maintenance performed by previous owners. This included rear brakes overhaul, new cylinder head, rear crankcase oil seal, new clutch hydraulics, new tyres, 2 new batteries, new oil cooler, complete braking system overhaul including new discs, calipers and pads, new alloy wheels and new windscreen. In early 2018 the car was given a complete respray in silver at a cost of almost £4000. The car has a Motolita steering wheel and is fitted with executive black leather seats.
I bought the car in June 2018 from a reputable specialist dealer. I have had the radiator refurbished and replaced the thermostat. I also fitted a new vinyl hood. Although the car has historic status and does not require an MoT I had one done and to pass the carburetors were removed and rebuilt because of mixture adjustment failure. The ignition system has been refurbished (new condenser, points, rotor, distributor cap, HT leads and plugs). The breathing system was reinstated to original to eliminate an oil leak.
The car is in good order and drives well. It looks good with relatively new paint job. I have only done 500 miles in 6 years of ownership. I have kept the car in a garage. It has some minor MoT advisories (worn antiroll bar bushes) and there may be some slight wear in rear differential. The chassis is rust-free.
