EXTERIOR
Finished in metallic Diamantschwarz and equipped with an attractive front splitter, side skirts, AC Schnitzer rear valance and M Tech rear spoiler, this low mileage E30 looks superb beneath our studio lighting. The exterior of the car is lifted further with factory Shadowline trim, colour-coded bumpers, 15-inch cross-spoke alloys, and lower sports suspension – a very tasteful package indeed. On closer inspection the glass is BMW-etched all round and following a machine polish by our in-house detailer the paintwork presents with a great depth of shine. Despite being left-hand drive this one resided on the salt-free roads of Japan from new until late 2018 when it arrived in the UK. This has resulted in an excellent rust-free car with no underside or body corrosion to report.
INTERIOR
In keeping with the sporty exterior, the interior boasts sports seats, a Tech 1 steering wheel and complementing gear knob. The original houndstooth cloth remains in great condition with no major wear to the bolsters and only one small mark on the passenger seat to note. There are no cracks on the dash top and all the switchgear remains feeling solid to operate. Better still, the car equipped with the rare air conditioning option which we’re pleased to report blows ice cold. The headlining is also in fine condition and quite remarkably the original velour overmats are still retained in the footwells.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
With only 68k miles under its belt the 2-litre engine runs with all the 6-cylinder smoothness you’d expect from a low mileage E30. The gearbox operates with precision and, sitting on uprated shocks and springs, the car handles very well indeed. The engine bay is clean and tidy, not overly dressed but in nice original condition with traces of the yellowish factory wax still present on some components. For the new keeper’s peace of mind the car comes fully inspected, and a fresh MOT will be carried out prior to sale. The standard airbox has now been refitted.
HISTORY FILE
This low mileage E30 in desirable manual specification was supplied new in Japan in 1987. Having spent the first 30+ years of its life on unsalted roads the car remains in very solid rust-free condition with no welding having ever been required. It was imported into the UK by a specialist company in 2018 and has resided with the same private owner since then. A major service with all-new brakes and a cambelt change were carried out on arrival, and another service was done less than 1k miles ago. The car further benefits from the recent fitment of a new complete exhaust system and fuel tank.
Within the accompanying history file the new keeper will find a raft of UK paperwork including invoices, receipts, MOT certificates, import documents, and the V5C showing only 1 former keeper.
