1969 Ford Escort Mk1 2 Door 1. 6. This is a RHD Import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. Will need Uk registered but we can assist the new owner with that. Very solid and original example. As a car its scruffy but as a shell its superb for its age.
Body - 1969 Early type Mk1 Escort 2 Door heavy duty export spec shell. It has the extra strut stop plates, under wing strengtheners and rear chassis skids, but not the 6 dial dash or studs through the boot floor, In the main the shell is very very original and not caked in underseal. Its original strut tops, arches, sills, pillars. Bonnet boot and doors are all really good. Spare wheel and boot wells are original. Its had one repair on one front floor pan which could do with being redone. Its solid but was done with flat plate. Other than that the car looks to be untouched and a really good survivor shell. The paint is quite well worn and was fading as fast as we could polish it yesterday.
Mechanics - Lovely little 1. 6 crossflow which is very quiet. 4 speed box and standard running gear. Good brakes and clutch. Car starts runs and drives but feels a bit wandery (if thats even a word) at the front. I suspect it will need a couple of bottom arms and rack ends as a minimum to tighten things up.
Interior - Aftermarket front seats. Original GT style rear seat. Interior really needs redone as its a bit scruffy
Wheels - Chrome cyclones, which im not a fan off but each to their own
As a car this is fairly scruffy but as a shell its superb and a great starting point for a project, donor shell etc. You are more than welcome to come and see it. We have a ramp, magnets, coffee and biscuits at your disposal. Delivery can be arranged if required. Please ask for a quote.
