Initially introduced in 1924, the Packard Eight provided the exceptional build quality and opulence traditionally associated with the brand at a lower price point than the Twin Six/ Twelve. Naturally, this made the Eight the highest volume model for the brand for some time, especially with the option of additional luxury with the Custom Eight and De Luxe Eight (later Super Eight) variants. Adjustable hydraulic shocks and automatic chassis lubrication were standard, while a full synchromesh transmission and numerous wheelbases and body styles were available depending on buyer's needs.
As such, even as Packard moved the Eight towards the middle of the market, it was still well and truly a full luxury car. With a 120hp Inline-8 cylinder, the car offered remarkable performance for the period, especially at its price point. Of course, due to the economic struggles of the early 1930s, Packard found it difficult to move as many vehicles as initially anticipated: fewer than 5, 000 examples of the Tenth-series were produced in total. Of that, only 1, 800 units of the 1001 model was built. Only a handful (possibly as few as 205) of these received sporty Coupe Roadster bodywork. Sitting on a short 127. 5” wheelbase, the Coupe Roadster is characterized by its low windscreen, hidden rumble seat, and distinctively clean lines.
The magnificent 1933 Packard Eight 1001 Coupe Roadster featured here is finished in gorgeous Regency Burgundy over a Tan interior and matching folding convertible top. This exquisite motorcar was beautifully restored by a previous caretaker and is now ready to become part of a world-class collection. This beautiful Packard Coupe Roadster is believed to be one of only eight known to remain. Because of this, I personally believe the investment potential of this iconic motorcar will grow beyond your imagination. We are proud to offer this Packard to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this extremely rare and sought-after American classic!
