Triumph super 7 saloon 1928 Triumph was a car manufacturer founded in 1897 by Siegfried Bettmann and Moritz Schulte. At the time, they were manufacturing bicycles in Coventry, UK. Around 1910, the company began successfully building motorbikes. Over the years, many motorbikes were built, including the famous 500cc. Around 1921, after the First World War, disagreements arose between the partners, as Schulte wanted to replace bike production with car production. Schulte subsequently left the company, but Bettmann nevertheless bought the Hillman car factory. From 1923, a saloon car was built under the Triumph Motor Company name. The Triumph Super 7 was a car produced by the Triumph Motor Company from 1927 to 1934. It was produced in response to the success of the Austin 7 and was Triumph's first mass-produced car. In 1933 the name was changed to Triumph Super 8. Only 17, 000 Triumphs were produced between 1927 and 1933, including this 1928 Super 7 saloon Registration: NL number plate Engine number: 8398 Chassis number: 8393 Odometer reading: 20499 Displacement: 832 cc History of this car This Triumph has a special history. The car was built in early 1928 and immediately shipped to New Zealand. The chassis was also supplied to other coachbuilders, who built their own bodies. This was also done with this car. A coachbuilder in New Zealand built a beautiful body, called MCN (Munt-Cottrell-Nellsen & Co) see photo 33. The car ran in New Zealand for many years and was restored there in the 1980s. Around 2000, the car was purchased by a German enthusiast and shipped from New Zealand to Germany. The car moved to the Netherlands at the end of 2014 and has spent many wonderful years here with an enthusiast, who has also won many awards with this unique car. What is known is that only 3 1928 Triumph Super 7 saloons exist. 2 are still in New Zealand and this Triumph is the only one in Europe. Car of the day. The engine The engine is a 4-cylinder and produces 832cc. The car is fitted with a 3 speed gearbox and everything works fine. Start, drive and enjoy.
