Model history: The Austin Healey 3000 is an iconic sports car manufactured by Jensen Motors for the Austin Healey marque between 1959 and 1967. It was valued for its elegance and performance and was nicknamed the “Big” for its powerful 3-litre six-cylinder engine. Among the various versions, the 3000 MK III Phase 1, of which only 1, 390 units were built, stood out for its comfort and meticulous craftsmanship with a wooden dashboard and rising windows. The Phase 2, produced up to 1967 in 16, 320 units, benefited from several technical improvements, including an upgraded suspension and a quieter exhaust, which made the driving more enjoyable. Austin Healey enjoyed success in motorsport, particularly in rallying, where the 3000 shone at alpine events. Famous drivers such as Carroll Shelby, Vic Elford, Pat Moss and Timo Mäkinen contributed to its success story. Even today this motorsport icon excites fans and continues to participate in numerous historic events.
History of this Austin Healey BJ8: The car was sold new in 1967 in Charleston, USA, and has a well-known history since 1995 when a Dutchman acquired it. In 2017 it was sold to Belgium, and we handed it over in 2021 to its last owner.
Body: The bodywork is in excellent condition, with precise alignment to the doors and bonnet. Additionally, supplementary fog lights improve night visibility. The original colour, a stylish midnight blue, has also been retained.
Upholstery: The blue leather upholstery was restored a few years ago and is in excellent condition, just as the blue alpaca hood. A beautiful new wood steering wheel complements the dashboard, which was also recently replaced.
Engine: The mechanics are in perfect condition and are overhauled regularly. It is equipped with a large HD8 carburettor. We have just replaced its clutch.
Gearbox: The gearbox is in very good condition, it executes smoothly and the overdrive shifts quickly.
Suspension: The front axle has been renewed, providing very good handling. The behaviour of the suspension is perfect. There is no play or noise. The suspension is perfect. The car has chromed wheels and new tyres.
Brakes: The Austin Healey comes with disc brakes at the front as standard. The brakes prove to be perfect and on straight runs the entire braking system has been overhauled.
