Description
In the 1960s Swedish car giant Volvo wanted to enter the burgeoning sports car market. Their sporty offering was the P1800 notable for its dramatic and attractive styling by Italian design house Frua.
The new car shared its mechanicals with the sturdy and reliable Volvo Amazon and was initially built by the British Jensen company until problems with quality lead to production being relocated to Sweden from 1963. The Swedish built cars were then designated ‘P1800S’.
The tough 1800cc four-cylinder engine featured five main bearings and twin SU carburettors, and power output was quoted as a healthy 100bhp. A white P1800 shot to fame as the hero car in the 1960s British hit TV series ‘The Saint’ starring future James Bond actor Roger Moore.
Offered for sale here is our 1965 P1800S, a LHD European registered in restored condition. As with the Saint example, our car is finished in white with a black interior and also features the rare and desirable Wolfrace wheels.
Available for viewing in Northern France.
