Description
In April 1948, the first Land Rover was presented to the world at the Amsterdam Motor Show. It was a resounding success. After the Second World War, there was a great need for robust vehicles with many capabilities. Aluminium was plentiful, so the new British manufacturer Land Rover developed its new creation with an aluminium body on a strong and solid steel ladder frame. Simple, functional, and straightforward in design, the foundation for the unique success story was laid.
To this day, the Land Rover enjoys a high reputation and is instantly recognisable among all other automobiles thanks to its straightforward design. A true piece of automotive history.
The example offered here, an early 80-inch wheelbase, left the factory in 1951 and was delivered to Champion Motors in Singapore. A true world explorer. In 2012, the Land Rover was sold back to its home country, where it was inspected, repaired, and partially restored by its new owner. The condition was so good that a full restoration would have destroyed the beautiful patina forever. Invoices for the various works from 2012 to 2017 are available.
It has been in Germany since 2020 and has been TÜV-approved with new German papers and H licence plates.
