Description
Elegant Hooligan
You might not notice it at first glance, but this Mini Countryman is anything but harmless. Under its hood lies a 1275cc Cooper engine, built by motorsport experts Britec Motorsports, with a measured 93 hp! So don't be fooled by the innocent white exterior and the dignified style of a British gentleman's room inside! That impression vanishes mercilessly at the first turn of the key.
History
The car arrived from Great Britain to its only German owner at the end of 2009. Not much is known about its current status in the UK. The mileage is read. Back then, it came to us across the English Channel in its original, unassuming red color as a right-hand drive. In the following years, the owner had two specialists extensively rebuild the car according to his own specifications, without compromise. This included converting it to a pure two-seater so that the family's hunting dog would have a bit more comfort in the trunk. In the end, the investment in the little British car totaled just under €30, 000. A folder containing all the invoices and listed work is available for inspection. Since the car is rarely driven anymore, the owner has now decided to have it sold by consignment.
The Condition
After the work was completed in 2012, the car was only driven occasionally and still presents itself in a very beautiful, well-maintained condition today. The wood is well-kept and solid, as are the body, paint, and interior. At best, it could be described as a very light patina. Everything works as it should. Well, there isn't much in this car that could break...
The engine always starts and responds willingly to the accelerator. This little car's acceleration is pure fun. You'll have to live with the fact that you'll regularly be underestimated by much stronger road users. The term "go-kart feeling" is often overused, but it's perfectly apt here. This also applies to the comfort. The steering is direct, the suspension is firm, and the soundscape... let's call it robust. On the other hand, the racing car sound is addictive and, unfortunately, also encourages an emotional driving style. The little one is a real driving machine with a bit of everyday usability left to make it look a little more fun. ;-) The engine has never been registered since it was installed (because it's visually indistinguishable from the 850 to the layman), but this can of course be done by arrangement.
Conclusion
Anyone looking for a truly special Countryman that looks classic and dignified, but lets the hooligan's side show when they step on the accelerator, should take a closer look at this little car. For the asking price, no comparable Countryman can be built anywhere near as good these days. Of course, the owner is open to reasonable offers after a viewing.
International buyers are always welcome! I can help with worldwide shipping. Don't hesitate to ask.
