Description

The Austin Light Twelve-Four is a car that was produced by Austin from 1933 until 1939. The "12" in the name referred to the horsepower, a British rating which controlled the annual taxation payable to use the car on the road.

This Austin Light 12/ 4 Ascot was originally registered in Norwich on the 15th July 1936, and more recently found its way to Bury St Edmonds.

The engine starts and runs well, there is no frost damage, and all fluids in the correct places. It has been fitted with an electric fuel pump as well as a new 12V battery, the charging system is working correctly and looks to have been rewired at some point.

The drivetrain is nice and quiet, and drives as a 12/ 4 should. The gears are direct and the brakes are good, the car handles well and looks to have been well maintained.

The Austin is an older restoration, the body is very solid and the underside is as clean as the top. The paintwork is far from immaculate but it does shine and present well.

The interior is very original and in good order, and new carpets have been fitted. We also have a luggage truck included with the sale.

The V5 is present and there is some online MOT history.
