Description
Completely restored. The engine has a Phoenix crank and rods with shell bearings, new white metal bearings, new pistons, new camshaft and valves with hardened exhaust valve inserts, rebuilt dynamo and magneto, new braided cotton wiring and a stainless steel exhaust.
New bearings throughout, new prop shaft, new brake linings, new half shafts and new wheels using the original hubs fitted with Blockley tyres.
All correct working instruments with the addition of a water temperature gauge. Indicators and hazard warning lights. Tonneau cover.
The car was supplied new by Vernon Balls Ltd, London in March 1928 and was originally Colbalt blue, which it is now. It retains its original registration number.
There is extensive history of owners, many period photographs and numerous pictures of the restoration.
The car completed the grueling Paris Nice Rally in 1970
Price negotiable around advertised figure. Amilcar made CGSs cars with a staggered two seat body in 1926-7 and replaced this in 1928-9 with the two seat body”side by side” body, which this is.
Although the overall length of the car is slightly shorter, amazingly there is far more leg room for the driver than the staggered bodied cars. It also has the advantage of two doors for easier access!
