This is an INCREASINGLY RARE BN6 2 Seater
(Not an 2+2 as most are)
It’s enjoyed EXTENSIVE RESTORATION.
Its a very rust free car and chassis
(The Car has spent much of its life in South Africa.)
Engine (a 3000cc), Gearbox & Overdrive all rebuilt.
Upgraded with Servo, 4 pot Calipers to front, Prop & Diff Refurbished.
This restoration started in S Africa.
It was then returned to the UK where I bought it.
I had it recommissioned by (Ex-John Chatham) Austin Healey Specialist Dan Howells.
Dan went through the whole car and got it running right and did an amazing job re-detailing it - not in period / concours spec, but following the theme of a slightly modified car - as perhaps an enthusiast would have done in period.
Dan had a great eye for this - I hope you agree - it looks great.
With the Dan Howells recommissioning I had already orchestrated the following -
- I had the Gearbox Rebuilt (Hardy Engineering Leatherhead - they do most races cars at Goodwood,)
- The Carburettors are rebuilt (N Fuel Services - Carbs now simply beautiful),
- The Overdrive had been removed but a replacement was found & it was refitted (OD Spares Coventry, - longer legs version for touring)
- New Wire Wheels & Hubs were reintroduced (slightly wider than orriginal) and fitted with new Michelin XAS tyres.
(Only the best people & parts have been used.)
I have greatly enjoyed its use, and following winter lay up, I serviced it following a “spring inspection” offered by another well known AH Specialist, local to me Bill Rawles Classic Cars.
Following this summers service report and their further recommendation the following work that has been done
- New Fuel Tank,
- Refurbished rear Springs and Shocks,
- Front suspension bushes (Polybush blue)
- New Ball joint Rubber &
- Brake light sensor.
The car was inspected and test driven by Jack Rawles.(Goodwood Racing Fame.)
He Commented
“ this is a car you can really not be afraid to use,” and that it “drove really well.”
ALSO The radiator has also been re-cored - following advice (not any cooling issue) - sound advice it runs cooler now.
Sensible strategic advice for long term ownership!
I think it would make a great Touring Car.
The car runs very well & the engine has always attracted very positive compliments from those who know.
There is a very full history file & with receipts for works in South Africa & the UK.
It also has a Heritage Trust certificate.
Only the best have worked on this car.
I stopped counting at £45k spend - then I have done the Rawles Spring Report work!
If its originality your after, its probably not for you - unless you must have the most rust free basis for you build!
I believe it’s an opportunity for someone to make it their own.
Someone who want an keeping, slightly modified car that looks RACEY but is dependable.
It’s no Garage / Originality Queen
A desirable 2 Seater BN6.

Following this summer's service report from Rawles. All recommended work has been completed - New Fuel Tank, Refurbished rear Springs and Shocks, front suspension bushes (Polybush blue), new Ball joint rubber, and brake light sensor.
The radiator has also been re-cored, following advice from the AH specialist (no issue) - sound advice as it runs cooler.
It would make a great Touring Car.

It attracts much attention with its “works style” looks. It's the 2-seater format - much favoured by racers (not a 2+2).
Its Chassis and bodywork have been well preserved in South Africa. This condition is hard to find.
It still has the correct bonnet with its Center crease.
It starts easily on its new battery & starter, and the 4 Speed Box and Overdrive are a joy to use. The Michelin XAS tyres suit the car well - expensive but transformative.
The people who have helped get the car where it is are at the top of their game - they all know these cars very well.
I did this to keep. It's only going in favor of a wonderful XK 140...... here we go again! Any inspection is welcome.
