The SP1 offered here was late registered, on an '03' plate. It has received some cosmetic restoration to the petrol tank and fairings together with recent mechanical servicing to include new chain and sprockets, new fork seals and a valve clearance service within the last 1, 000 miles. There is a Power Commander III fitted to give some added control of the fuel mapping. The original exhaust cans and rear seat pad will be included. The SP1 has not been used on the road since the last MOT expired in August 2021 so some basic maintenance will be required if being pressed back into service. A V5C and owners' manual are available.
Designated RC51 by Honda, the VTR1000 V-twin was designed to take advantage of the new Superbike World Championship rules of the time. And take advantage it did, winning the championship twice during its short production run. The SP-1 was the 'homologation special' that the public could buy. A state-of-the-art, HRC developed racing machine for the road.
