At Lavant Straight Classics we’re offering one of the best Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV’s in the UK, this one in particular is a very late ‘Strada’ edition and is fitted with Alfa’s legendary 2. 0 Nord Twin Cam engine.
Unlike most models which come up for sale in various states of disrepair, this car which has spent most of its life either being used or stored correctly has only ever needed a light restoration, which are the usual areas on these cars, the outer lower panels & inner wings. This is all likely due to only having 1 owner between 1989 – 2017. The interior is in exceptional condition for its age, aside from a minor amount of wear to the drivers seat bolster piping. In the last few years, new high quality carpets were fitted as well as a new headlining.
This is a list of restoration & recommissioning work carried out over 24 months in Jan 2019 and Dec 2020. Bodywork repairs inc. Removal of engine and ancillary components from engine bay. Inner wing repair panels welded in place. New right hand outer sill. All four wing bottoms replaced with correct repair panels. Complete repaint in the original Robinia Metallizatto AR534. New boot seal, window channels seals etc. New front & rear screen rubbers.
The rebuild to the mechanicals were:
A full rebuild of the engine including having the bottom end balanced, which is noticed upon driving the car. New water pump. New water & fuel hoses. Carburettor rebuild. 123 electronic distributor. Suspension rebuilt with all new ball joints, ride height reset on the torsion bars, lowered uprated Eibach rear springs. Caster arm ball joint conversion. Alfa 75 3. 0 front & rear anti-roll bar. Koni Sport adjustable shock absorbers all around. Propshaft rebuild. New heater valve. New MOMO Vega alloy wheels & new tyres.
As can be seen the list of work carried out was extensive and has produced a lovely looking and superb driving GTV. Following completion of the project the owner decided to sell in order to fund his next Alfa restoration.
Over the last couple of years, 2023-2025, Alex Jupe Motorsport carried out a number of jobs on the car including: A Gearbox rebuild with new syncro rings. Dinitrol anti rust protection to the underside. Several oil & filter services.
In November 2021 the car was used for a group test cover feature in Practical Classics magazine, of copy of which is in the history file.
It truly must be one of the nicest driving Alfetta GTV’s on the road in the UK currently. She’s completed many long runs over the past summer’s, including being showcased at Bicester Heritage and Brooklands. Currently being used every day during the summer months as a testament to its everyday use-ability.
Although she is registered as a Historic vehicle and therefore Tax & MOT exempt, at the point of sale, she’ll be sold with new MOT for the owners peace of mind. What will come with the car? 3 Keys, a huge a4 sized service history ring bound file, with works dating back to 1984 and MOT’s dating back to 1986, a certificate of origin from the Alfa Romeo Owners Club & a genuine 1978 Alfa Romeo parts catalogue.
