Description
Here at RFH Classics we are delighted to present this beautifully refurbished 1973 (L) MGB Roadster 1. 8 finished in striking Primrose Yellow complete with contrasting Black leather trim. Coming to us from long term previous family ownership of nearly 40 years, this car combines provenance, quality refurbishment and subtle upgrades.
During their ownership the family entrusted the service and restoration specialists Brown & Gammons to carry out a major restoration programme that was completed around 20 years ago at considerable cost. Since then the car had very little use, particularly after passing from mother to son 21 years ago. To improve handling the car was fitted with the desirable MG RV8 front suspension and then more recently, a set of chrome wire wheels which have covered fewer than 1, 000 miles and remain virtually as new.
Inside the cabin feels special. Upgraded, and incidentally very comfortable MGOC Club seats in Black Leather are now fitted and they complemented by a wood trimmed dashboard complete with matching door cappings. During the restoration a complete set of new Smiths coloured gauges and dials were installed along with new trim kit and carpets that are still in excellent condition thanks to the car’s minimal use. Weather protection is provided by a mohair fabric roof in excellent condition and complete with an opening rear window.
Like many older restorations a little refresh was required when it arrived with us so we instructed our body shop to strip the exterior and recommission the paintwork in the stunning Primrose Yellow, a truly timeless colour across any marque. The result, as you can see, is a beautifully presented bodywork which is now enhanced with new chrome mouldings and complete front bumper.
Under the bonnet power comes from the 1. 8 litre four cylinder petrol engine, upgraded to a lead free Ivor Seale unit during the restoration and paired with a fully operational overdrive for 3rd and 4th gears. A stainless steel exhaust adds a delightful tone to the crisp engine note. When the car arrived with us it was fully serviced and MOT tested before the exterior refurbishment, ensuring it is now ready for its next owner to enjoy. Light use during the previous family’s ownership has helped preserve both condition and originality, giving you the opportunity to acquire an MGB that has already had the investment of time and money and with the benefit of some very desirable upgrades
In the office we have catalogued the cars extensive history into one of our RFH Classics presentation folders, with all records and receipts arranged in date order. This comprehensive file completes the picture, making the car ready for its next custodian to enjoy and cherish.
