Description
A much loved 2004 Vauxhall Astra 2. 2 SRi 16v, finished in Star Silver III. Open to sensible offers.
Bought in 2004, the same year it was made directly from Vauxhall. It had only 7, 000 miles on the clock and was part of a batch of several six-month-old ex-Vauxhall stock. Since then, it’s been in the same family from 2004 to now. Technically it’s had 3 owners, but really just 2 if you include my family as one, I signed it over to my parents when I bought another car (a diesel for longer runs). They barely used it, as the MOT history confirms, so it’s been very lightly driven during that time.
It’s now showing 132, 850 miles, but remains in excellent running order. This is a rare model, fitted from the factory with the Irmscher body kit, which gives it a sportier look compared to the standard SRi.
Condition & Reliability:
• MOT until 24th April 2026
• Runs great – has never failed to start
• No engine lights or warning faults – ever
• Interior in excellent condition: never smoked in, always used with mats
• Replacement EGR valve, alternator and new battery fitted in its life
• Front brakes (discs & pads, Pagid) replaced around a year ago
• Tyres have had very little use
• Cruise control, electric windows, alarm, CD player all working
Honest Notes:
A few age-related marks: small dents, scuffs, some alloy kerb marks
Some rust showing on the rear inner wheel arches and light rust along the bottom of the boot lid. The brakes have passed the MOT, but under heavy braking I would say, could be better. It has had official services, but for most of its life it has been serviced by a mechanic friend of the family, which might explain its longevity (all parts receipts will come with the car). Air Con – currently not functional, will need an air-con service.
Performance & Specs:
• Engine: 2. 2L 16v inline-4 petrol (144bhp)
• Transmission: Manual, front-wheel drive
• 0-60 mph: ~7. 9–8. 2 seconds
• Top speed: ~133 mph
• Fuel capacity: 52 litres
• Boot capacity: 370 litres
This Astra has been a brilliant and reliable car, and it’s becoming increasingly rare in this specification with the factory Irmscher kit. It’s sporty, dependable, and would make a great modern classic for an enthusiast, or a solid daily driver for someone who appreciates a bit of character. This car has been a genuine joy to own and has never let me down – it’s started first time every time, even during -14°C winters. The interior still has that fresh, clean feel, and it’s always been kept in as close to original condition as possible.
It’s great fun to drive, with sharp handling that still holds its own against modern cars. It’s led an easy life – never thrashed, always looked after, and for the most part kept either garaged or under a car port.
