The Porsche 911E of 1972 is a model produced for only one year, recognizable by its unique external oil filler flap — the famous Ölklappe. This example stands out for its rare original colour Signal Yellow (Signalgelb) and its factory sunroof. Although the history of the early years is not documented, the car is currently part of a private collection owned by an enthusiast.
The bodywork has been repainted in its original shade, Signal Yellow, during the restoration. Measurements taken with an thickness tester confirm a healthy, uniform layer over the entire vehicle. The paint has a remarkable gloss and depth, and recent professional detailing has given it a showroom-quality finish. The freshly restored Fuchs wheels are shod with recent Vredestein tires, for a look that is both performance-oriented and faithful to the era.
The black interior has been fully rebuilt with care. Notably, there is a pair of sport bucket seats in Recaro-style offering excellent support. The carpeting has been replaced and is in excellent condition. RS-type door panels add a sporty touch, and while an aftermarket sport steering wheel is currently fitted, the original wheel is included in the sale. A battery cut-off switch is also installed to facilitate winter storage.
The restoration began around 2019 and was completed in 2021, according to one of the mechanics. It was carried out by Drive911 in Belgium, a workshop now closed. We have several photos showing the extent of the work carried out. The odometer reads 11, 500 kilometres, a figure consistent with the overall condition of the vehicle and likely representative of the distance covered since restoration.
Mechanically, this 911E is particularly healthy. The original 2. 4 L flat-six engine develops 165 horsepower, runs smoothly and offers generous torque. The mechanical fuel injection (MFI) has been rebuilt and calibrated, guaranteeing a crisp response to the accelerator and reliable cold starts. Hydraulic chain tensioners have been installed for added reliability.
The 5-speed 915 transmission has been rebuilt and works perfectly, with no play or hesitation. The steering is precise, lively, and reassuring — this car truly expresses itself on winding roads.
