Description
Model History: Produced over just two years, the Porsche 911 2. 4 S represents the pinnacle of the first generation of so-called "classic" 911s, before the introduction of the G models. It combines timeless elegance, assertive sportiness and mechanical refinement. Equipped with the famous 2, 341 cm³ flat-6 engine, the S version develops 190 bhp at 6, 500 rpm, making it the most powerful and fastest 911 of its generation. The engine benefits from Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI), offering crisp response and a distinctly sporty character. It reached a top speed of 230 kph and accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in less than 7 seconds, a remarkable performance for its time. Among its special features, the 1972 model was distinguished by its famous oil tank, which was offset in front of the right-hand rear wheel, a solution designed to improve weight balance - but which was abandoned in 1973 for practical reasons. The 2. 4 S was also distinguished by its Fuchs wheels, optimised suspension and reinforced braking. Inside, the atmosphere was typically Porsche: full instrumentation, meticulous finish and a driving position focused on pleasure. 6, 022 examples were produced in total, of which only 3, 603 were coupes: 1972: 1, 430 examples 1973: 2, 173 examples The 911 2. 4 S remains one of the most prized models among purists, for its mechanical balance, its rarity and the purity of its design, just before the major stylistic and regulatory changes of the mid-1970s.
