This is a wonderful example of the XK100 model XKR Convertible with low owners and low mileage in one of the best colour combinations available.
Purchased in 2023 by the current owner, a fastidious collector of modern classics, who had his eye on the car for some years having known the previous owner and the attention to detail that had been lavished on it. When it became available he had no hesitation in buying it and quickly realised he had something special.
Due to the excellent condition, both on the bodywork and interior, he made the decision to protect the cars longevity by having the engine timing chain upgrade kit fitted. Carried out by marque specialists Miles Classic, the work involved a thorough go through with all items listed as follows:
Supply and fit timing chains with upgrade kit
Supply and fit water pump
Supply and fit expansion tank bleed hose
Carry out service checks and replacement of all filters and spark plugs
Check and drain and refill all fluids, engine oil, gearbox oil and filter, diff oil, coolant, brake fluid.
Remove rear axle and carry out welding repairs on rear chassis legs
Attend to wheel arch corrosion, clean off rust, treat, prepare and paint
Attend to bodywork imperfections
Supply and fit replacement seat belt anchors
Align steering wheel and track front wheels
Full buff and polish
On completion the car was in near immaculate condition and it has been used sparingly since.
Driving the car it performs as you would expect. The 4 litre V8 pulling and pulling through the seamless auto box delivering all the 370 horses to the back wheels in some style. Of course it is a convertible so there is the odd minor scuttle shake as the massive power and traction from the 19” wheels flings you into the future at ungentlemanly speed. The performance is mated to a responsive and trouble free gearbox, the suspension is compliant yet sporting with no knocks, bumps or bangs and the brakes are like throwing out an anchor. It is a pleasure to drive, either pootling around town, cruising on the motorway or enjoying the twisties on a more energetic outing.
To go with the fabulous engine, drivetrain and nearly new tyres, the bodywork is in magnificent shape. All panels are straight, shut lines as new and the deep maroon paintwork as fresh as it can be for a 20 odd year-old car.
The interior does not let the car down in any way. The cream leather wears it’s slight patina very well, all the controls are tight, positive and work as they should. The electric hood operates on the touch of a button and in the right conditions, the top-down experience is what these grand tourers are built for.
The car comes with the owners pack in the original leather handbook and has 13 main dealer service stamps in the official Scheduled Maintenance Record up to 2017 and 60, 000 miles. There is a full MOT history. There is also an invoice for a previous purchase not that long ago at a value of £44, 000. 00.
All in all this is a lovely example of the XKR and getting rare to find in this condition with such low owners and mileage.
Car is available to view and test drive in West Yorkshire.
