Description
This 1997 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera 2 Targa has covered 92, 000 miles and has had only three previous keepers. In my three years of ownership I have driven it sparingly, around 5, 000 miles, and it has always been kept garaged and covered. The car comes with a very detailed service history, showing continuous Porsche and specialist maintenance since new.

• Battery cut-off switch for long-term storageI bought this car because, to me, the 993 perfectly balances classic air-cooled Porsche charm with everyday usability. The Targa version adds something truly special: the flexibility of open-air motoring while keeping the timeless 911 profile.
What sets this example apart is not just its originality and specification, but the confidence that comes with its history and recent major works. My favourite aspect has been the driving experience itself — the distinctive sound of the air-cooled flat-six paired with the precision of the 6-speed manual gearbox, especially with the roof open on a clear day.
In 2022, at 87, 000 miles, the engine underwent a full rebuild by Parr Porsche Specialists, who have maintained the car for more than a decade. This work, fully documented with a £15, 000 invoice, gives peace of mind for the years ahead. More recently, a new set of tyres was fitted in October 2024 following its MOT. The bodywork and paint are protected by a film, the interior presents very well with only light, age-appropriate wear, and the car drives smoothly with no known issues.
With the engine rebuild complete and the car properly cared for, the next owner can expect no major expenses beyond routine servicing.
Sadly, due to changes in my family circumstances and the fact I no longer use it as much as I’d like, I’ve decided to part with it. I believe the next owner will love it as much as I have, not only as a collector’s piece but as a car to be enjoyed.
