Description

1966 Rover P6 2000 SC (series 1)
First registered July 12th 1966.
Matching numbers car.
Very good condition inside and out. Kept to original specification, this early series one car is one for the purist. Immaculate carpets, sandalwood trim and leather flat pleat seats (some wear to driver’s seat) complimented by rosewood inserts to door cappings and dashboard. I have a quote to replace the 2 worn panels in the driver’s seat and have sourced matching leather to complete the job. Dash in great condition, everything works; has factory optional tachometer and working radio with factory fitted roof arial. All glass and rubber seals in great condition, chrome and stainless-steel trim in good condition. All locks, windows etc in working order. Owner’s manual and Rover literature in the glove box.
This great survivor was restored some years ago, and its condition bears testimony to the standard of the work. Some history and evidence of winning classic car shows. Unfortunately, the original history file was lost or not passed on by a previous owner. Some blemishes to the paintwork, but generally still looks amazing for a 60-year-old car. In the past the car has had repairs to the body tub and it is in solid condition – photographic evidence in folder. All work to MOT standard.
Some MOT history (2006 – 2025), the car has covered 11, 157 miles since 2006 and the history file contains itemised bills for parts and work done exceeding £3, 750 in this period alone.
The car benefits from electronic ignition, starts and runs well, oil pressure good (no flickering oil light), dynamo charges well; very presentable engine bay as can be seen from the photos. Clearly, she has been well looked after since restoration, benefitting from regular MOT’s. Has current MOT.
Recent work includes custom made aluminium petrol tank; Prop shaft universal joints; universal joints replaced on both rear drive shafts; rear hub bearings replaced both sides. Front wheel bearings, discs and pads recently replaced, rear ones in good condition. Oil and spark plug service. 5 New tyres. New tailored carpet set fitted to the boot.
The Rover P6 was the first car to be awarded European car of the year for its safety features and design. It has servo assisted disc brakes all round, (inboard discs to rear) independent front and rear suspension, overhead camshaft and an all-aluminium engine. Unmolested early series one cars are becoming increasingly rare, and the price reflects the condition of the car; not concourse (but then again, not concourse price!)
The Good – just look at the photos! The Bad – not really any bad. The Ugly – the present owner!one for the purist, a series 1 P6 2000. A great old survivor and such a beautiful car. Timeless understated beauty and elegance, drives well and a must for those old enough to remember travelling in style!
Only selling to make room for my next project - she who must be obeyed has a strict one in, one out policy (mmmm where have I heard that recently??)
