Description
1932 Riley 9 ‘Plus Ultra’ Series Monaco
Previously supplied by us. Highly original example. Authentic vintage Riley ownership.
A remarkably original and well-preserved 1932 Riley 9 ‘Plus Ultra’ Series Monaco, retaining its fabric coachwork, dark green leather interior and period character, and offered as an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire an honest and usable pre-war Riley saloon at an accessible entry point into vintage motoring.
First registered in January 1932, though almost certainly of late 1931 manufacture, the car was originally supplied in Stockport and still carries its supplying dealer’s plaque on the dashboard — a charming surviving detail.
Finished in green and black, the car retains its original dark green leather trim, with interior woodwork presenting particularly well. A buff log book dating back to 1946 accompanies the car, and it is known to have been off the road between 1959 and 1973 before returning to use.
Over time the car has been carefully recommissioned and sympathetically improved for practical road use. Works have included replacement carpets, installation of indicators, replacement of the Autovac with an SU electric fuel pump for reliability, radiator re-core and conversion of the magneto to coil ignition housed within the original casing. A set of Blockley tyres has recently been fitted.
This is not an over-restored example but a characterful and authentic Riley saloon, ideal for the enthusiast who values originality and period integrity.
