2017 Bowler Bulldog NR1 Desert Spec Chassis Number 009 5. 0 V8 Supercharged
On offer is a very unique example of a N1 registered Bowler Bulldog for customer use. Individually numbered this vehicle is 009. Fully road legal Uk registered Bowler Bulldog that can be used on public roads.
According to its maker: "The Bulldog is a collector's dream, displaying our specialist expertise from years of rallying."
"Handcrafted with Bowler's expertise, the Bulldog is an off-road racing vehicle. Designed for the desert, rally raid and other adventures! The Bulldog follows in succession from the memorable Nemesis EXR-S and the Wildcat before it, a succession of race vehicles that have successfully competed in the World toughest races, such as the Dakar, The Silk Way Rally and the Eco Race.
"The Bulldog was the first car to use Bowler's Cross Sector Platform 'CSP' chassis which was designed and built in-house. Attached to the frame of which are modified Range Rover Sport subframes, all-independent suspension (some links of which are also sourced from the Range Rover Sport parts bin)."
"The Bulldog is a great companion which has helped a number of drivers achieve their desert racing ambitions in a highly competent manner."
The Bulldog powertrain usually incorporates an unrestricted JLR 3. 0-litre TDV6 engine, which is coupled to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, the latter featuring a torque bias centre differential and a Gripper limited-slip differential. However not in this case, this unique example was sent back to Bowler for some tweaks, including a 5. 0 V8 Supercharged 600 Bhp engine.
When the vehicle was ordered it was £90, 000 plus vat, with number of further options which included the remarkable purple/ mauve paint finish at £985. The desert pack was £8, 500 plus vat.
In February 2019 the first owner approached Bowler and explored the possibility of finding a bit more power. They suggested the installation of a suitably tweaked 5-litre Range Rover V8 and e-diff, terms were agreed and in early May 2019 they prepared and installed a 5-litre Range Rover SVR AJ133 V8 which, we understand, generates in excess of 600bhp. With the supercharger and manifolds, drive belts, V8 air boxes, exhaust kit, new front loom, polished inlet and 124 hours labour, the account amounted to £38, 597. The E-Diff was fitted at the same time and, with the Range Rover Sport steering wheel with paddles, an additional £4, 000 was added to the bill.
There are a further three invoices in the file, one from 5th September 2022 for £9, 902 (including a recon gearbox), 28th March 2023 for a full service and mot £1274, and £1, 353 on 6th March 2024 (oil, fluids etc.). The MOT is valid until 26th March 2026.
Further service invoices date back to 2018 and 2019.
The Compomotive Wheels are shod with new Mud Terrain tyres. Disc brakes are fitted all round, vented at the front. The chassis features underside protection with steering and differential guards and nylon protection for the lower suspension arms. Note one guard is not fitted in the photos, but is with the car.
