Instead, it introduced monocoque construction — a first for Rolls-Royce — giving it a far more modern driving experience without losing that unmistakable wafting ride. The engineering was leagues ahead of its time: self-levelling suspension, disc brakes all round, and a level of refinement that made even the Bentley T of the same era feel slightly old-school by comparison.
By 1976, the Shadow I had been refined to near perfection.
