Description
An evolution and synthesis of the glorious Fiat 126 and 127, from which it inherited the engines, the Panda was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who conceived a compact two-box sedan, two doors and a hatchback, with a front-wheel drive engine. Simple in its technical layout, yet committed to functionality and great habitability, the Panda maximized available space. The 30 horsepower, air-cooled, two-cylinder engine, an evolution of the historic 1957 500 engine later used in the 126, powered the Panda 30, dedicated to the Italian market. It differed from the Panda 45, which instead featured the 127's 903 cc four-cylinder engine, by the different asymmetrical positioning of the metal grille on the radiator grille: on the 30, the vents were on the right side to supply air to the two-cylinder engine's ***, while on the 45, the vents and radiator were on the left side. In just 3. 38 meters, the Panda offers space for five people and great versatility in the use of interior space, such as the rear seat that, with seven different positions, can even become a comfortable hammock, a cot, or a spacious bed. What more can we say? A success with 7. 5 million units sold!
Here we present a beautiful 1981 Fiat Panda 30, one of the oldest examples in circulation. It still features the small external air vent and all the peculiarities of the first six months of production. It has been completely repainted inside and out (with the exception of the engine compartment) in the original Land Brown color, starting from an already sound base. Various work has been carried out, including overhauling the original brake calipers, overhauling the original Fiat Novembre 80 steering box with the A112/ 127 long heads still in place, a new Pirelli cooling bellows, original rubber carpeting in excellent condition, the original light Pirelli canvas interior preserved in fair condition, brown interior plastics in good condition, and original Fiat Stars bumpers, just repainted. Original documents and license plates.
